Information for Pupils

This page is for the reference of existing pupils only

EXAMINATION DATES and EXAM ENTRY CLOSING DATES:  Posters and Calendars on display in the changing area provide this information.  The same information is also detailed in regular Newsletters which are sent out by e.mail to those who have e.mail.  Those who do not have e.mail need to check regularly to see if there are any Newsletters at the collection point.  As soon as we have some idea of who will be taking what exam and when, we will inform dancers and/or parents.  The list for collection of fees is generally available 8-10 weeks before the exam date and the fees need to be paid by the set closing date which is generally 6-7 weeks before the exam session.  Late entries cannot be accepted.  Refunds cannot be made if someone changes their mind or if another event crops up.  Refunds or transfers to the next session can only be made if a medical certificate is sent in within a few days of the exam session.

EXAM DAYS: Exam candidates are informed of the time they need to be READY TO DANCE which allows for exams running early and allows time for teachers to check hair, shoes etc. The times given are for guidance only and as long as pupils are ready to dance at the appointed time and prepared to wait, things will run smoothly.

EXAM WEAR: It is essential that exam candidates are immaculately dressed and that their hair is neat.  Marks are given for PRESENTATION which includes appearance.

Hair must be in bun or two plaits wound round head.  Those with shorter hair must wear a net. No hair whatsoever should be loose around the face.  Hair fastenings should be invisible.  Grips, gel, mousse, hair spray, invisible bobbles and nets are the only things which should be used.  If fringes are exceptionally unruly, then a purple lycra headband may be used but may need gripping in place.
Purple Adagio Angela Leotard (up to Grade 2)
Pink or White Ballet Tights
(no welts)
CLEAN Pink Ballet Shoes with Elastic.
Black PU Tap Shoes with heel taps from Grade 2 which MUST have been put on at the factory.  Please do not use canvas tap shoes
Bare feet for Acro, Lyrical and Beginners Modern Exams.  Black leather split sole jazz shoes from Grade 1.  Rubber full sole jazz shoes are not permitted
More senior dancers use different leotards etc, but this will be discussed at that level.

Hardings Dancewear, Mansfield Road, Nottingham and Dancia International, Crown Island Wollaton, are the only supplies of the Purple Adagio Leotard and the leotards worn by our Seniors.  Katz  Tap shoes are recommended up to Grade 2 as these have broad and loud taps.  Avoid buying tap shoes which are not flexible, or which have only small taps or narrow toes as these are not good for balance and make unsatisfying sounds.  Only split sole jazz shoes are allowed.  Split sole Ballet shoes are recommended from Grade 2.

EXAM RESULTS: These arrive 2-6 weeks after the exam date and will be given out at the next lesson possible.  If results are expected during school holidays, pupils are advised to give in a Stamped Addressed Envelope unless they can be notified by
e.mail.
